India got its first medal in wrestling, Sakshi Malik won bronze medal in women's wrestling at the Rio Olympics.
Twenty three-year-old Malik defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Aisuluu Tynybekova in the 58-kilogram freestyle in a thrilling bout, making a comeback in the final seconds to win 8-5. At one point early in the match she trailed 5 points to none.

She hoisted an Indian flag aloft and jogged around the arena before sinking to the mat in joy. She is a huge relief to the country since most of the medal hopefuls were already out of the Games.
Among India’s other remaining hopes for medal are the badminton player P.V. Sindhu, who is due to take part in the semifinals of the women’s singles Thursday. Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, a London Olympics bronze medalist, will contest on the last day of the Games.
