TV tonight: 'Supergirl' premiere
Do the people who say there aren’t any funny sitcoms anymore watch Big Bang? As with most aging comedies, the situations are sometimes sillier and the jokes repetitive, but they can still make you laugh out loud, as you’ll see in this pattern-shifting outing that moves Amy in with Sheldon. And familiarity does have its benefits: Mayim Bialik could not get a big laugh from a simple line like “that’s me” if we didn’t already know who Amy is. There's always room for improvement in the TV landscape, but right now, look on the bright side: Any medium that can sustain comedies as distinctive (and different) as Big Bang and Atlanta is doing something right.
